Classes

Tuesday 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Thursday 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

About me:

I am a part-time potter with over 30 years experience, including 10 years as a full-time potter.

My skills are primarily in wheel-thrown functional stoneware, however, I have experience in hand-building. I make such items as bowls, mugs, teapots, vases and many more. These skills, I am happy to share with, and teach my students. I supply glazes and fire a kiln with student work most weeks.

You don't  have to be a creative person to learn pottery. Students can start as complete novices, or bring some experience. Either way, we have fun as we learn together and grow as potters.

About me:

I am a pottery artist and teacher. I enjoy all aspects of pottery creation, from recycling clay, to throwing, turning, decorating, glazing and firing. I especially look forward to opening the kiln after a firing to see the finished products.

I specialise in functional ware, including mugs, tumblers, bowls, platters, lidded vessels, mosquito coil holders, tagines, and casserole dishes. I also enjoy producing sculptural pieces. I sell my pottery locally.

In my class the emphasis is on having FUN while learning a new creative skill.

Classes:

Thursday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

About me:

I fell in love with clay at primary school and it continues to challenge and inspire me. I have studied to BA Fine Art level majoring in Ceramics. During my nearly 30 years in Townsville, I have worked at schools and community groups.

My own studio trades as Next of Kin Handmade, making functional stoneware. I also have created several community and public art projects in North Queensland. The most recent one, Seasonal Circles with Dr Anneke Silver, is installed at Riverway.

As a potter, I enjoy using the wheel, hand building and mosaics.

Classes

Saturday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

About me:

I have accumulated many skills as a hobbyist potter from handbuilding, throwing, firing and glazing during the last 35 years.

I love exploring all the techniques clay can offer and I particularly enjoy the fact that there is always more to learn.

My classes teach beginners throwing and handbuilding and, as the students become more experienced, I like to mentor their creative ideas. I am particularly keen to strengthen the students' skills in the glazing field, loading kilns and firing. I also demonstrate a different surface decoration technique every term.
