Studio Access

get the code

Once you have  been a member for at four months you can be nominated by your teacher to have studio access outside of class hours. The nomination will need approval at a committee meeting. If you are approved, a form is filled out by the nominating member and signed by them and you.

The next step is to attend an induction in order to understand the studio policy and your responsibilities when accessing the studio. Once that has been approved you are offered the code.

Using the studio

let's create

Our studio is open for members to use three times per week. This is your opportunity to come and play with clay on your own and meet like-minded people outside of your class. It is expected that you have a basic understanding of pottery making as there will be no teacher available.

We expect members taking part in these sessions to treat each other with respect and to be conscious of the fact that they are sharing the space. You are responsible for creating a nice environment with all other members.

Upon arrival, please sign your name in the diary on the applicable page and that you are accessing studio hire. Then proceed to payment in the office. When you leave, please sign yourself out. If you come to the studio to drop off or pick up pots, please also sign yourself in and out. This is an insurance requirement and is non-negotiable.

Before you leave, you are expected to clean up after yourself. Your teacher should have advised you on the specifics of cleaning. Leave at least 30 min for cleaning your used spaces.

You can access the kitchen for a cup of tea or coffee and our fridge is stocked with water and soft drinks that are available for purchase either using cash or eftpos.

Studio hire fee:

Half day: $8

Full day: $12

Sell, buy & borrow

pottery, clay and books

How to sell pottery in the shop

To sell pottery at our shop you need studio access, which means you must have been a member for a minimum of 4 months and successfully completed our studio inductions. Members selling their pottery through the shop are expected to take part in the running of the shop once or twice annually. You price your pottery as you wish but the association will take a small commission.

The shop is open every Sunday morning, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, unless a market or workshop is on at the studio. Please contact the current committee member in charge of the shop for more information.

Buying clay

We have a varied selection of mid and high fire clays available at the studio for purchase which we offer to our members for a reduced price. â€‹Clay must be paid for prior to use under your name. You can also order special clay and have it delivered to our studio with our regular clay order.

Our Library

Our library holds a collection of books, magazines and annuals on all aspects of pottery making. Most of the collection can be loaned out to members only, but we have reserved a part of the collection for reference only. Members are welcome to come in when the studio is open to read the reference books. We have provided seating in the library and we ask that you read in the library space. Please fill in the card that you will find in the sleeve of the book/magazine and place the card in the box provided. Our books can be loaned for a period of 3 weeks.

NQPA acknowledges the Wulgurukaba of Gurambilbarra and Bindal peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we meet, work and create.
