Fiona Banner

Classes: Thursday 9 - 12 pm & Social Group Thursday 1 - 4 pm

Fiona is a experienced potter and has been teaching arts for many years. She also have created several community and public art projects in North Queensland. The most recent one, Seasonal Circles with Dr Anneke Silver, is installed at Riverway.

Fiona's work is inspired by the natural environment of the tropics and makes mostly functional stoneware using the wheel. She also enjoys hand-building and mosaics. Together with her daughter, Fiona is one of the makers of stunning pottery in the brand Next of Kin Handmade.

"I fell in love with clay at primary school and it continues to challenge and inspire me. I have studied to BA Fine Art level majoring in Ceramics in UK. I moved to Townsville in 1996 with 3 small children and a geologist husband. I have enjoyed being part of the local art scene in Townsville by working in many community and schools settings sharing my love of ceramics and mosaics. "
