Edward O'Brien
Classes: Wednesday 6 - 9 pm & Saturday 2 - 5 pm
Edward has been part of our association for more than 20 years and is our long term resident teacher. Many of Edward's students have since gone on to teach others at the studio. His students call him 'The teacher of teachers'.
Edward started out with hand-building and creating sculptures but soon moved on to wheel-throwing. He now creates functional pieces, including mugs, tumblers, bowls, platters, lidded vessels, pet urns and casserole dishes. You will find that Edward experiments with a wide range of firing and glazing techniques. He loves letting the glaze be the hero of his work. You can find Edward's work in local shops such as Renegade Handmade and The Drill Hall Studio.
"I am inspired by all aspects of pottery, from recycling clay, to throwing, turning, decorating, glazing and firing. I especially look forward to opening the kiln after a firing to see the finished products. In my classes the emphasis is on having FUN while learning a new creative skill."
